Our Story
A Cape Classic, Reimagined
Long before Cape Cod was dotted with big-box hotels and sprawling resorts, there were motor inns like this—family-owned, roadside stays where travelers pulled in for a clean room, a friendly welcome, and the promise of something slower. In 1954, The Pine Knot Motel opened its doors along Route 28 in South Yarmouth, just as Cape Cod was becoming a summertime destination for families, roadtrippers, and coastal dreamers. It was simple. It was warm. It felt like tradition in the making.
Seventy years later, that same spirit lives on—now with a few thoughtful updates, a new name, and a renewed love for the kind of hospitality that never goes out of style. With over three decades of experience in the hotel industry, including years spent helping small resorts on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard reach world-class status, our team brings deep respect for the art of innkeeping to this beloved property.
The Cape Cod Motor Inn Today
We recently purchased the property from its original owners—along with a deep sense of respect for what it’s meant to generations of guests. While we’ve updated and renovated the motel from top to bottom, our goal was never to erase the past. Instead, we worked to preserve the character and retro charm that made The Pine Knot special, while incorporating the modern amenities today’s travelers expect.
You’ll still find mid-century touches throughout the inn, from the clean architectural lines to the vintage-inspired exterior signage. But you’ll also notice fresh linens, updated bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, and climate control in every room. It’s the best of both worlds—Old Cape Cod charm, reimagined for right now.

If there’s one thing we believe, it’s that Cape Cod doesn’t need to be complicated to be memorable.
